The Animal Doctor
A trip to the veterinarian probably isn’t a ride your pet friends enjoy. Going to the doctor would make anyone nervous. But making sure they stay healthy and happy with regular professional care is very important for them, and for you.
- Have regular general checkups by your pet’s veterinarian friend. Having their heart, eyes and ears checked out, and bloodwork done once a year can prevent problems in the future.
- Having your pet friends vaccinated is a very important part of their health and well being. And in most places it’s the law. Nasty, life threatening illnesses like Distemper; Parvovirus; Kennel Cough and Rabies can be prevented yearly vaccinations.
- Don’t forget Heartworm prevention. Even one mosquito bite can infect your dog! Your veteriarian can check your dog for heartworms with a blood test, and advise you on the best monthly preventative.
- Fleas on your pet means fleas in the house! Ask your vet about what treatment is best for your pet friends.
- Ear infections can be a problem for any of your pets, especially for dogs that love to swim. If your dog friend is scratching at their ears or shaking their head a lot, it could be an ear infection and you should have them examined. Untreated ear infections can become a serious issue for them.
- Nail trims are important, too. It can become very painful for your pet friends if their toenails grow too long, so check them once a month. And even Paw and Pal can tell you how good they’ll look afterward!
